Just a quick one. Today, I attended the M&M. There was a glorious moment at which I showed JW & Tom my drawing of Rob. JW asked me how Rob is doing and Anna happened to walk into the conversation at that precise moment. I said "I think that he is OK, I have been consoling him all week because apparently he was removed from a WhatsApp group because something that he said was misconstrued as "racism"? He has felt upset." The atmosphere plummeted. It was like the balmy summer air suddenly froze to ice. JW asked me to clarify which WhatsApp group. I said something like "I dunno, one of the LGBTQ ones, I expect". At that point, Anna walked away. Message. Received. 😏
The reality is that I was more upset about it than Rob, but I used Rob as a buffer to deflect the attention away from me. Rob is above engaging with any of this. I was saying this for my satisfaction, not his. There is no reason to involve him, especially as he specifically asked not to be involved.
JW continued the conversation. She knew exactly what I was alluding to. She said "oh yes, I shared those messages with Tom, we both thought that the comments were a little inappropriate but we know that autistic people might be prone to making comments that might be taken as "inappropriate". It was Anna who removed him from the group, not me. Personally, I would not have removed him from the group. He is not banned from the group. He can re-join if he wishes.
Despite what she said before:
[11:12, 03/06/2021] JW: There has already been a warning which has clearly been ignored so I'm going to follow through with what I said two days ago - people are going to be removed and it starts today. If you believe someone should be removed from the group, please (now and in future) screenshot any innapropriate messages to me (privately). I will look into it and remove members if appropriate.
Rory spent the first few years of his life in an ice cave, carving out his palace of wonder. He's a bit of a love doll, but he who melts the ice shall have his reward.
